Colour-correct README showcases. Root-cause fix for a silent grayscale-downcast bug in the showcase generator (scripts/make-readme-examples.sh). ImageMagick's pattern:checkerboard emits a grayscale tile, and magick auto-detects all-gray composites and downcasts the result to grayscale — so colourful sources (McCandless EVA, Hubble nebula, Mars Curiosity, Hokusai's Wave, the Pierce-Arrow ad) silently lost colour. Fixed by building an sRGB checkerboard from explicit RGB tiles and serialising via PNG24:. Verified via magick identify on every output. Every regenerated strip is now full sRGB.

Pierce-Arrow swapped in as the fourth product fixture. Replaces the previous black-and-white 1909 Winchester advertisement with a vibrant full-colour 1909 Scientific American Pierce-Arrow ad. Updates LICENSES.md, fetch-fixtures.sh, and the products showcase.

Algorithm showcase rebuilt. Dropped the uninformative standalone astronaut grid (every panel was identical — vn-remove, vn-mask, person, sky, and saliency all converge on a cleanly-isolated subject). Replaced with three subjects where the algorithms visibly diverge: Mars Curiosity (rover + orange sky + rocky ground), Wright Brothers (two people + meadow + sky), and Mona Lisa (painted figure with no real sky). The README now explicitly notes that vn-remove and vn-mask share the underlying foreground extractor and so produce the same result on most subjects.

Documentation tightened. README, CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, docs/design.md, and the parser error string no longer carry any backstory about previously-removed features. The docs document only what bgbgone does today. Captions are factual (--bg image:lunar surface) instead of narrative. The Mona Lisa tour is six PD backgrounds, no filler panel.

Tests: 60/60 unit + 48/48 integration green across all 16 PD fixtures.
