Full changelog
What's New
update_asset_metadata — the 22nd MCP tool
New tool for updating asset metadata through natural conversation. Supports dates, GPS coordinates, description, favorites, and ratings.
Metadata repair capabilities
- Timestamp repair — fix noon/midnight timestamps from folder imports via neighbor interpolation
- GPS inference — fill missing coordinates from neighboring photos (same camera, same day, < 2h gap)
- Timezone correction — detect and fix offset mismatches using GPS-based timezone lookup
- Description & rating — enrich asset metadata conversationally
- Safety first — every fix gets a confidence score and requires your approval before applying
Known limitation
Immich writes .xmp sidecar files when updating EXIF data. If your photos are in an external library whose path contains special characters (e.g., emojis), exiftool may fail to create the sidecar and the update will silently revert. Photos uploaded directly through Immich are not affected.
Other
- Updated all documentation to reflect 22 tools
- Metadata repair highlighted as a core feature
