Full changelog

New Features for Photos and Maps

HEIC Photo Support

Users can now upload HEIC photos directly without needing manual conversion. The web app detects HEIC files and converts them server-side into JPEGs before showing the crop modal. HEIC is the default format for photos on Apple devices, making it easier to upload images without extra steps. Documentation, translations, and API endpoints have been updated accordingly.

Photos as Map Markers

Contacts with profile photos now appear on the map with their photo displayed as a circular thumbnail surrounded by their group color. This design matches their appearance in the network graph. Contacts without photos appear as dots in group colors, with ungrouped contacts shown in theme-aware gray. The hover and popup behavior for map markers remains the same.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: A new cron job must be added to your configuration for the geocoding task to run. Please refer to the docs for instructions: Cron jobs

Other Changes

  • Honor name display settings in map marker names: Map marker popups now respect user-specific name display settings, such as prioritizing nicknames or shortened formats.
  • Retry geocoding: Automatically retries failed geocoding attempts.
