Fixes

  • Downloads are now allowed by default. can_download defaulted to off, which broke OPDS acquisition — and therefore KOReader/Readest downloads and progress-sync matching — for every non-admin account, surfacing only as an opaque "download failed" inside the e-reader client. New accounts can download out of the box, and migration 048 backfills existing users (no explicitly granted permission is overwritten; the setting remains available per user for admins who want to restrict downloads).
  • The admin user page now explains that the download permission also gates OPDS, and shows a warning while it is switched off.

If you set up e-reader sync on v0.4.0 and downloads failed for a non-admin account, upgrading resolves it — no action needed.
