ReleasePort's take
Light signalStoryden v1.26.8 adds moderation notes and formal warnings for incident documentation, plus account creation and profile APIs. Email delivery now includes outbox queuing with retry logic and audit logging.
Why it matters: Community operators can now document moderation patterns and enforce registration controls programmatically. Operators running moderation should test these tools in dev; email queueing improves delivery reliability for all.

Full changelog
Taking control of your community just got a whole lot easier. This release is packed with powerful moderation and membership management tools that give you fine-grained control over who joins, how they join, and how you keep everyone in line.
Keep Receipts
Moderation notes allow your team to document incidents, track patterns, and maintain context across your moderation actions.
These notes are completely private to your moderation team, members can't see them. Think of it as your team's internal case file system. Perfect for tracking warnings, documenting incidents, or just remembering why someone was given a timeout six months ago.
Formal Warnings
Sometimes you need to give someone a heads up before bringing down the hammer. The new warning system lets moderators issue formal warnings to members that show up directly on their profile and in moderation logs.
Warnings are visible to the member being warned, so they know they're on thin ice. Your moderation team can see the full history of warnings issued to any member, making it easy to decide when it's time to escalate from a friendly nudge to more serious action.
Control Who Gets In
Remember when we made email verification actually do something useful back in v1.26.4? Well, now you've got even more control over your registration flow with new registration modes:
- Open: Anyone can register freely (the classic approach)
- Invite-only: Only people with invitation links can register
- Disabled: Completely disable new registrations
This is perfect for communities that want to grow more deliberately, run closed beta testing, or just take a break from new signups while you focus on your existing members.
And speaking of invitations, the UI for member invitations got a massive upgrade. Creating and managing invitations is now smooth and intuitive, with proper feedback and a clear registration flow for invited members.
More Account APIs
The API can now create accounts directly and edit member details. This allows access keys or plugins to provision accounts fresh or update their profile fields and email addresses.
You can also override verification status for accounts, which is super handy when you're migrating users from another platform or need to manually verify someone who's having email delivery issues.
Email Reliability
Behind the scenes, we've added a proper email outbox queue. This means email sending is now more reliable and audit-logged. Failed emails get retried, and you can track delivery status. It's one of those infrastructure improvements that just makes everything feel more solid.
