Full changelog
ZenNotes v1.0.4 is a stability and UX polish release focused on editing flow, note management correctness, and update discoverability.
Highlights
- Smoother split editing and preview rendering, with cached/deferred markdown updates and less visible churn while typing
- More reliable note-management flows, including immediate rename propagation across breadcrumbs, tabs, and the sidebar
- Better keyboard-first behavior around new notes, floating windows, and tab navigation
- Clearer update UX through the app menu, command palette, notifications, and release-note rendering
Fixes and Improvements
Editor and preview
- Improved split-view rendering behavior to reduce blinking and visual resets while typing
- Tightened edit/preview typography parity so split mode feels more consistent
- Improved Vim block cursor rendering to better track the rendered glyph instead of using a generic fixed box
- Fixed tab-strip keyboard navigation so focus and highlighting behave correctly when moving between tabs and the editor
Note creation and renaming
- New notes now focus the breadcrumb title immediately so you can name the file first and start writing after pressing
Enter - Renaming a note now updates the breadcrumb, sidebar, open tabs, and cached note metadata immediately instead of waiting for a later refresh
- When there is no active note/tab, the app now falls back to
Inboxinstead of creating new notes inside a stale previously selected folder - Sidebar new-note creation now prefers the active note context, then falls back to
Inbox
Dialogs, menus, and updates
- Replaced native destructive confirm dialogs with an in-app confirm flow to avoid focus/input issues after delete and trash operations
- Added app links to the native Help menu and command palette
- Added
Check for Updates…to the command palette and improved the native menu update flow - Improved updater feedback so “up to date”, “update available”, and error states are explicit instead of looking like no-op actions
- Normalized GitHub release-note rendering in-app so raw HTML tags do not show up in the About/Updates surface
- Added background update notifications when a newer version is available or ready to install
Platform and packaging polish
- Improved Linux icon/packaging behavior for installed builds
- Hardened Debian post-install handling around
chrome-sandbox - Fixed floating-window close behavior for
Cmd+W/Ctrl+W
Notes
