Full changelog
What's changed
- Added the bundled
zenCLI for terminal-based vault workflows, including note, capture, folder, search, tag, task, archive/trash/restore, vault info, and MCP commands. - Added CLI install/uninstall flows in Settings and the command palette, plus in-app Help documentation for the CLI.
- Consolidated MCP server startup behind
zen mcpwhile keeping the legacy MCP entrypoint compatible. - Improved MCP and vault APIs for vault-root mode, including clearer canonical path handling and richer vault metadata.
- Added vault-root/flat-vault handling so ZenNotes can detect and work directly with markdown files and folders at the vault root.
- Fixed moving folders such as
inbox/demoout to the vault root in root-mode vaults. - Added inline note comments with anchored side markers, comment panels, and comment navigation.
- Fixed active comment highlighting when a comment starts at the first character of a line.
- Added sidebar multi-select for notes and folders, including Cmd/Ctrl-click toggles, Shift-click ranges, bulk context-menu actions, and multi-item drag payloads.
- Refined sidebar selection styling so selected rows have a consistent full-width highlight.
- Added in-app media tabs for images, SVGs, video, audio, PDFs, and other local files instead of opening media externally.
- Routed media opens from the sidebar, note list, markdown preview, hover preview, and live-preview controls into app tabs.
- Improved reference pane asset rendering for images, video, audio, PDFs, and generic files.
- Made Settings taller and cleaned up small UI copy/escaping issues.
